About TabernaDB

The genus Tabernaemontana (Apocynaceae), contains 120 Tabernaemontana species (T. species), which are widely distributed over the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. T. species have a broad spectrum of applications in traditional medicine in the treatment of syphilis, cancer, hypertension, malaria, sorethroat, and headaches. Natural products (NPs) from these plant species have shown interesting antimycobacterial, antibacterial, cytotoxic, and anticancer activities. Here we present Tabernaemontana Natural Product Web Resource Library (TabernaDB). To the best of our knowledge this is the first database of NPs from T. species. The data content currently comprises of data sources (covering the period from 1961 to 2024) and was derived from literature assembled from the mainstream natural product journals. The data covers 982 compounds isolated mainly from 47 T. species. In addition to names and molecular structures of the compounds, we have included information about source organisms, references, biological activities (e.g. antimalarial, anticancer, cytotoxic, etc.). TabernaDB can be accessed via queries on compound names, chemical structures, sources, references etc. Finally, all chemical structures of the TabernaDB can be downloaded from this website. This database is freely accessible.
